Stingray returns with The Titanican Stratagem from Big Finish Productions

November 8, 2024 by Andrew Newton

Big Finish Productions are celebrating 60 years of the cult classic Supermarionation series, created by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson Stingray with a brand-new audiobook adventure.  Stingray: The Titanican Stratagem is a new adventure for the World Aquanaut Security Patrol (W.A.S.P.) as they defend the world from the Aquaphibians, an undersea race led by the evil King Titan.

In a whopping 8 hour long adventure, Stingray: The Titanican Stratagem by Chris Dale is part of Deadly Uprising, a multi-media narrative to celebrate the sixtieth anniversary of the beloved show.  This new audiobook is narrated by Wayne Forester, who Anderson fans may know from Big Finish’s previous Stingray and Thunderbirds audio plays.

Stingray: The Titanican Stratagem follows the Stingray crew and the Marineville Police Force as they deal with another villainous scheme by Titan and the Aquaphibians.  As King Titan seeks out new allies for his cause, Atlanta and Marina, joined by newly created character Lieutenant Sara Coral set out on a rescue mission.  However, some old enemies are about to intervene in the war between the two forces that could spell destruction for all.

Author Chris Dale said: “Playing in the vast toybox that is the Anderson universe is always a delight, especially when it involves spending time with characters I’ve known and loved for over thirty years – but if the Stingray crew think they’ll be having an easy time of it in The Titanican Stratagem, they should think again, as that old rascal Titan is embarking on one of his maddest schemes for revenge yet! As always, Wayne Forester has done a first-class job with his reading, superbly bringing to life characters both familiar and new. Chief among these is security officer Sara Coral, a character I had the chance to create for this sixtieth-anniversary saga and who allows us to see the world of Marineville through fresh eyes.”

Stingray: The Titanican Stratagem is available now on the Big Finish website as a digital download for £19.99.  Look out for a second audiobook, Stingray: Project Orca, due in December.
