French filmmaking duo Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo (Inside) told Allocine that their film will be more connected to Tobe Hooper’s original than 2006 prequel The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning.

The plot focuses on Leatherface’s teenage years, discovering the origins of the character in a unique fashion.

They said: “Basically, we could define our movie as a naturalist, brutal and disillusioned road movie, with a quite new narrative structure in the Texas Chain Saw Massacre universe.”

Leatherface will star Sam Strike (EastEnders) as Leatherface, Stephen Dorff (Blade) as Texas Ranger Hal Hartman and Angela Bettis (Girl, Interrupted) as Mother Sawyer.
