The Falcon and the Winter Soldier merchandise confirms Wyatt Russell as the new Captain America

October 25, 2020 by Gary Collinson

Given the literal passing of the shield at the end of Avengers: Endgame, you’d be forgiven for thinking that the upcoming Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier would begin with Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson taking over the mantle of Captain America from Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers.

However, as we’ve seen through production set photos and the various marketing and promotional materials, it seems that one obstacle may be standing in Sam’s way – the character of John Walker, a.k.a. US Agent, played by Wyatt Russell (Overlord).

In Marvel’s comic book continuity, John Walker originally debuted as the supervillain the Super-Patriot in Captain America #323 in 1986 but later took on the role of Captain America after Steve Rogers abandoned the shield. After convincing Steve to return as Cap, Walker then assumed the superhero identity US Agent.

All signs have pointed to Russell’s Walker being the government’s choice for the new Captain America in th series, and now we have official confirmation on that thanks to the packaging on The Falcon and the Winter Soldier MiniMates action figures; see for yourself here…
