The latest title in the beloved Dark Quest series set to arrive this autumn

March 29, 2025 by Andrew Newton

UK based developer Brain Seal has announced that Dark Quest 4, the latest entry in the beloved Dark Quest series, will be arriving on PC and consoles this autumn.  Inspired by great board games like Hero Quest, Descent and Dungeon Saga, Dark Quest 4 blends strategy, imagination and immersive quests.  Watch the new trailer below for a sneak peek at the gameplay.

This upcoming turn-based RPG dungeon crawler takes players on an immersive journey through a world filled with the aesthetics and magic of old-school dungeon crawling.  Players must build a party of three heroes and venture through dungeons to complete hand-crafted missions.  Should players not want to tackle missions on their own, they can join with up to two friends and destroy whatever dark forces reside in the dungeons together.

Players will experience more than 30 hours of campaign missions in a tabletop boardgame style, with unique animated figurines, charming visuals and a fully voiced dungeon master who you can see off to one side of the ‘board’ (just like Morcar did in the 1991 HeroQuest videogame by Gremlin).

Dark Quest 4 features:

  • A rich story-driven campaign complete with unique quests and challenges.
  • Multiplayer for up to three players.
  • Turn-based combat in grid layout battles.
  • A level editor and Steam workshop – allowing players to create their own quests and share them with the community.
  • An animated visual style that feels like the board games of old.
  • The evil sorcerer acts as a narrator while glares at the figures on the board, providing atmosphere to every game.

Dark Quest 4 will be arriving on Xbox, Playstation, Nintendo Switch and PC this autumn.
