The Legend of Zelda movie shares first look at Zelda and Link

November 20, 2025 by Gary Collinson

Having steered well clear of screen adaptations of their video games until 2023’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie banished the ghost of the live-action 1993 film, another of Nintendo’s most iconic IPs is now heading to the big screen as The Maze Runner and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes director Wes Ball brings The Legend of Zelda to life.

The Legend of Zelda is based upon the legendary Nintendo fantasy video game series, which launched back in 1986 on the Nintendo Entertainment System and revolves around the adventures of the elf-like Link and Princess Zelda as they look to defend their homeland of Hyrule from the demonic warlord Ganon.

With production on the film now underway in New Zealand, the official Nintendo Today app has given us our first look at our heroes by sharing first look images of young stars Bo Bragason as Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link. Check them out here…
