The Midwich Cuckoos trailer invites us to a village of the damned

February 1, 2022 by Amie Cranswick

Sky has released the first trailer for The Midwich Cuckoos, the modern reimagining of John Wyndham’s 1957 sci-fi novel of the same name. Starring Keeley Hawes and Max Beesley, the series centres on the quiet town of Midwich as it experiences strange events when its residents fall unconscious during a complete blackout, and all women of a childbearing age find themselves inexplicably pregnant; watch it here…

Midwich is a quiet commuter town where nothing much happens. That is, until the twilight hours of a late summer’s day, when everyone within a set area of the town falls unconscious. The curious incident seems temporary and those affected regain consciousness, but every woman of child-bearing age inside the zone has suddenly and inexplicably fallen pregnant. As the children of the phenomenon grow, it becomes clear they are not of this world.

The Midwich Cuckoos will air on Sky Max later this year.
