The Walking Dead $300 million lawsuit gets a court date for 2020

February 7, 2019 by Samuel Brace

Frank Darabont’s lawsuit against The Walking Dead is going to trial and has received a 2020 court date.

While The Walking Dead continues to plug along and shake things up on screen, behind the scenes things are getting pretty interesting. The long-running lawsuit from former showrunner and creator of the show Frank Darabont against The Walking Dead will now be settled in court in 2020.

Darabont and CAA sued AMC over profits to The Walking Dead five years ago but according to a new report in THR, there will be one year yet to wait until this is all settled:

“On Tuesday, at a status conference, the parties learned that the huge profits case with more than $300 million on the line will head to trial in May 2020. This comes after New York Supreme Court Justice Eileen Bransten largely denied summary judgment motions in December. Neither side is appealing. A jury will thus be deciding whether AMC has to impute a fair-market value for the highly-rated series or whether Darabont and his reps allowed AMC to set the amount with certain limitations.”

It will certainly be interesting to see how this plays out once the court date finally comes around next year.
