The Walking Dead: Survivors launches on mobile next week

April 6, 2021 by Andrew Newton

Elex has announced has announced that they will be releasing their highly anticipated survival strategy game The Walking Dead: Survivors for Android and iOS on 12th April.  At launch, players will have more than 80 new storylines to play through alongside fan-favourite characters such as Rick, Glenn and Hershel.

The Walking Dead: Survivors is a multiplayer survival strategy game that will challenge players to build their own town, fortify it from hordes walkers and defend it from the advances of other hostile players.  Players will need to assign tasks to their survivors, create battle plans and build and expand their base by exploring new territory, although they will have to give careful consideration into what structures they build and how they fortify their walls.

There are two categories of survivors, Combat and Development, and at the game’s launch there will be 5 survivors from the Skybound/Image comics with each having their own unique roles.  These characters are:

  • Rick – A Combat Survivor focused on fighting off walkers. He uses a rifle, an axe and his skills increase damage.
  • Glenn – A Combat Survivor focused on defense. He wields a pistol and his skill increases defense.
  • Beta – A Combat Survivor focused on offense. Beta uses two swords and his skills cause extra damage and increased attack.
  • Maggie – A Development Survivor who focuses on production. She uses a pistol and her skills allow an increase production rate and speeds.
  • Hershel – A Development Survivor who works as a medic. Equipped with a rifle, Hershel increases Healing Speed and hospital capacity while reducing healing cost.

Managing the settlement is very important and it will be up to players to gather supplies, farm, train, explore, fight enemies, recruit new heroes and tend to the survivor’s medical needs. It is also vital to build up defences, strengthen walls, place obstacles and set up defensive formations to protect from Walker hordes.

As players explore the area around their towns they will unlock new locations, characters, items and resources which they can use to develop their settlements, plus there is always more to learn about the new world in which they live.

Other players and Walkers are just a minor threat in the grander scheme of things, the biggest threat facing all players is Negan and his gang of Saviors.  Players will be able to team up with others to form Clans, build various clan buildings across the region to gain more territories and defeat Negan.

Look out for The Walking Dead: Survivors arriving on Google Play and the App Store on 12th April.
