Toby Jones and Rafe Spall join Jurassic World sequel

November 8, 2016 by Gary Collinson

With Jurassic World 2 gearing up to go into production early in 2017, Variety has the first casting news on the sequel to last year’s dino-blockbuster, with the site reporting that Toby Jones (Captain America: The First Avenger, Sherlock) and Rafe Spall (The BFG, Black Mirror) are joining the film.

The sequel is being directed by J.A. Bayona (The Impossible, A Monster Calls), with Jurassic World helmer Colin Trevorrow penning the script with his co-writer Derek Connolly. Both Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are confirmed as reprising their roles as Owen Grady and Claire Dearing.

Plot details for Jurassic World 2 are being kept under wraps, although Bayona has suggested that it may explore dinosaurs as “a parable of the treatment of today’s animals: abuse, experiments in medicine, pets, having wild animals in zoos like prisons, and military use.”

Jurassic World 2 is set for release on June 22nd 2018.
