Todd McFarlane says two Spawn animated series in the works, including one for kids

September 11, 2019 by Gary Collinson

It’s been over a year now since it was announced that Jamie Foxx and Jeremy Renner had signed on to Todd McFarlane’s long-planned Spawn reboot, with McFarlane revealing this summer that the project is being held up due to creative differences.

In addition to the movie, McFarlane has spent the past few years planning a new animated series, and during an appearance at Fan Expo Canada (via CBR), the comic book creator has revealed that there’s actually TWO animated show in development – with one of them aimed at younger viewers.

“We’re talking right now,” said McFarlane. “I just had a couple of meetings this weekend about a couple of different animation looks, both something that we can get kids in at a younger age and then get them into the sort of crack cocaine version of Spawn. And then do the adult one. So we’re talking about that. I think both of those come after the movie.”

At this point, it’s hard to get excited by any Spawn-related news, given there’s been a lot of talk and very little action over the past decade. Hopefully things will get moving soon…
