Tom Cruise takes a leap of faith in new Mission: Impossible – Fallout image, trailer date likely revealed

January 26, 2018 by Justin Cook

After dangling off a helicopter yesterday, Tom Cruise has taken to social media yet again to share another image of a death-defying stunt he performed for Mission: Impossible – Fallout, while teasing the “most thrilling mission yet.” Check out the actor in the midst of a massive leap (one that it almost looks like will send him crashing through a window rather than landing on the building’s roof) down below…

For a sixth installment in a film franchise, Mission: Impossible – Fallout certainly has a lot of steam behind it. Not only has the series been chugging along for over two decades, but it is arguably still as popular today as it was when the first installment hit theaters in 1996. Take for example the previous outing, Rogue Nation, which grossed $682 million worldwide on a $150 million budget, earned overwhelmingly positive reviews and introduced a few new characters who will be returning for the Fallout (not the least of which is Rebecca Ferguson’s Ilsa Faust).

Cruise, even at the age of 55, still remains a great showman, taking on a new headlining stunt in each series entry (Ghost Protocol saw him scaling the Burj Khalifa and Rogue Nation put him on the outside of a moving/flying plane), which has undoubtedly contributed to its enduring success.

According to Trailer-Track, it won’t be long until we see the gang in action, as the first full trailer for Fallout will be dropping Superbowl Sunday, February 4th. A shorter TV spot will likely air during the game, with a full trailer coming online immediately after.

The best intentions often come back to haunt you. MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – FALLOUT finds Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his IMF team (Alec Baldwin, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames) along with some familiar allies (Rebecca Ferguson, Michelle Monaghan) in a race against time after a mission gone wrong. Henry Cavill, Angela Bassett, and Vanessa Kirby also join the dynamic cast with filmmaker Christopher McQuarrie returning to the helm.

Mission: Impossible – Fallout will see Tom Cruise joined by returning stars Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Alec Baldwin, Sean Harris and Michelle Monaghan, along with new additions Henry Cavill (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice), Sian Brooke (Sherlock), Angela Bassett (American Horror Story) and Vanessa Kirby (The Crown). Christopher McQuarrie is returning to write and direct. It is set for release on July 27th, 2018.
