Tom Hiddleston says 007 role would be “an extraordinary opportunity”

March 7, 2016 by Gary Collinson

With speculation still rife as to Daniel Craig’s future – or lack of future – as James Bond, it seems that Tom Hiddleston has thrown his hat into the ring to take over the role as 007, stating that it would be “an extraordinary opportunity” and that he “would not take it lightly”.

“I’m a huge fan of the series,” Hiddleston tells The Sunday Times. “We all went to see Spectre when we were shooting Skull Island in Hawaii. I simply love the theme tune, the tropes and the mythology. I love the whole thing. If it ever came knocking, it would be an extraordinary opportunity. And I’m very aware of the physicality of the job. I would not take it lightly.”

Several candidates have been tipped to succeed Craig when he does call it a day, including Idris Elba, Damian Lewis and Sam Riley.
