Two-time RuPaul’s Drag Race winner Jinkx Monsoon joins Doctor Who

April 6, 2023 by EJ Moreno

From RuPaul to the Time Lords, Jinkx Monsoon is a queen that will face off against anyone.

The two-time winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race (Season 5 and All-Stars 7) and Broadway star will soon star in the upcoming new series of Doctor Who. Their addition marks one of the first major casting news in the Russell T Davies era and the first major news story since the deal between the BBC and Disney Branded Television.

In a new tweet from the official Doctor Who Twitter account, they broke the news that Jinx Monsoon would join the cast in what they described as a “major role.” Check out the tweet below…

“In a galaxy of comets and supernovas, here comes the biggest star of all. Jinkx Monsoon is on a collision course with the TARDIS, and Doctor Who will never be the same again,” showrunner Russell T Davies said.

“I’m honored, thrilled, and utterly excited to join Doctor Who; Russell T Davies is a visionary and a brilliant writer — I can’t wait to get into the weeds with him and the crew! I hope there’s room in the TARDIS for my luggage,” Monsoon said.

Doctor Who returns in November 2023 with three special episodes featuring the iconic David Tennant as the 14th Doctor for the show’s 60th anniversary. Then, we’ll begin the new era with the next Doctor, Ncuti Gatwa, who will take control of the TARDIS.
