UFC star Francis Ngannou joins Fast & Furious 9

Fast & Furious 9 is getting some additional muscle, with Deadline reporting that UFC heavyweight fighter Francis Ngannou has signed on for a role in the next chapter of the blockbuster action series.

Ngannou becomes the latest MMA fighter to star in the franchise, with Gina Carano featuring in Fast & Furious 6 and Ronda Rousey appearing in Furious 7. Details on his part are being kept under wraps.

Fast & Furious veteran Justin Lin is back in the director’s chair for the ninth instalment in the main series, which sees the return of Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, Chris ‘Lucacris’ Bridges, Charlize Theron and Helen Mirren.

Ngannou, nicknamed ‘The Predator’, joins fellow new additions John Cena (Bumblebee), Finn Cole (Peaky Blinders), Anna Sawai (Ninja Assassin) and Vinnie Bennett (Ghost in the Shell).

Fast & Furious 9 is set for release on May 22nd 2020.
