Uncharted movie to begin shooting in 2015

July 17, 2014 by Tom Powter

According to director Seth Gordon, the script for the Uncharted film is in a “really good place” and so the film will begin shooting in 2015 – despite the fact the film still hasn’t cast anyone as its lead, Nathan Drake.

Gordon, who directed Horrible Bosses, spoke to zap2it about the missing lead actor. “I want it to be a great actor. That’s number one, and then if it’s someone who has an actual jaw, that’s even better. The game is so well done that you need it to live up to that. There’s no way we’d do the inverse of that where it’s somebody famous who can’t [act].”

On the topic of the story, Gordon remarked that they would “honor the mythology of the game [through the] most interesting stuff from the first one and build from there,” before adding that the story would contain “some stuff that isn’t in the game.”

“I love the complexity and frankly the sophistication of the storytelling in the game, and we aspire to that — but don’t want to tell the exact same story, of course — so something that doesn’t break the rules of what it did but expands,” he elaborated.

The film was originally supposed to be directed by David O’Russell, but he left the project. His replacement, Limitless director Neil Burger, also left in August 2012.
