Update 2.5 arrives for Galactic Civilizations III: Crusade

September 13, 2017 by Andrew Newton

Developer Stardock have announced the release of the latest update 2.5 for their popular space strategy game Galactic Civilizations III and Galactic Civilizations III: Crusade.  This huge new update includes improvements to AI, a more functional UI, re-balancing and bug fixes.

Galactic Civilizations III and Crusade players will find that the AI has been improved to make it smarter, faster and much more adept at fleet building and management.  Stardock have been listening to player feedback and as a result many features of the game have been rebalanced such as how population works, costs of improvements and improvement of certain ship components.  This update also makes improvements to the game’s performance so gamers should now see better frame rates, better memory usage and overall a much smoother feel

Those players with the base game will find that there have been changes to bring the game more in line with the features of the Crusade expansion such as the more functional and efficient UI, more informed trade offers and galactic resources now accumulating.

“We’ve made some massive engine enhancements for both the base game and Crusade,” said Brad Wardell, CEO of Stardock. “AI, balance, performance, and quite a lot more improved with the development of the expansion. We’re continuing to work on Crusade even now, but want to make sure some of those important improvements make it over to the base game too, which is what you’re seeing with v2.5.”

Update 2.5 will make the following changes:

Major Engine Update (Base Game + Crusade):

•  Improved AI

•  Better game balance

•  Faster turn times

•  Increased performance

Base Game Enhancements:

•  UI: The cleaner and more functional UI from Crusade is added.

•  Economics: Galactic resources now accumulate, like in Crusade.

•  Diplomacy: More informed trade offers, better resource trading, and the “trade bar” from Crusade are added.

•  AI: Substantial improvements to the AI system from Crusade have been added.

•  Performance: The AI system has been moved to a core-neutral engine.

For a more detailed list of changes with this update check out the Galactic Civilizations III forums here.
