Venom: Let There Be Carnage has a 90 minute running time

September 13, 2021 by Amie Cranswick

With the average movie length seemingly increasing by the year and blockbusters typically running anywhere from two to two-and-a-half hours (or on occasion, even more), it seems that Sony Pictures is about to buck that trend with Venom: Let There Be Carnage.

As revealed by several theater chains in the U.S., the Tom Hardy-led follow-up to 2018’s hit superhero movie Venom is set to clock in at just 90 minutes. That’s 22 minutes shorter than the first film, as well as all of Sony (and Marvel’s) previous Spider-Man movie (the shortest being 2002’s Spider-Man on 121 minutes), every entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (The Incredible Hulk and Thor: The Dark World on 112 minutes) and DC Extended Universe (Birds of Prey on 108 minutes), and all of Fox’s X-Men movies (The New Mutants on 94 minutes).

SEE ALSO: Venom: Let There Be Carnage is a love story between symbiote and host, says director Andy Serkis

In fact, the only comic book movie that springs to mind with a shorter running time is 2010’s Jonah Hex (81 minutes), while the shortest Marvel movie may be well 2007’s Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer on 92 minutes (although please correct us if we’re wrong!).

Venom: Let There Be Carnage sees Andy Serkis (Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle) directing returning Venom cast members Tom Hardy (Eddie Brock/Venom), Michelle Williams (Anne Weying), Woody Harrelson (Cletus Kasady/Carnage), and Reid Scott (Dr. Dan Lewis), alongside new additions Naomie Harris (No Time To Die) and Stephen Graham (The Irishman).

Venom: Let There Be Carnage is set for release on October 1st.
