Video Review – Captain America: Brave New World disappoints Marvel’s new leader

February 12, 2025 by EJ Moreno

EJ Moreno with a video review of the new Captain America film…

There’s nothing more disappointing than hoping a great character gets their best chance and then having it all fall apart. That’s how it is with Sam Wilson as Captain America, brought to life by the brilliant Anthony Mackie. The latest Marvel film, Brave New World, lets down the new face of its brand with another middling movie.

Stop me if you’ve heard this before: the latest Marvel movie feels like the season finale of a Disney+ series until a rushed CGI final act. It’s been the case for Phase Four and Phase Five of the MCU, and its new era isn’t starting any better.

At the very least, you can see Harrison Ford deliver another good turn as a president and some potent world-building to delight those comic book fans. Check out the review below, and be sure to follow us on YouTube for more reviews, exclusive interviews, and other video content…

Marvel Studios’ Captain America: Brave New World follows Sam Wilson, who after meeting with newly elected U.S. President Thaddeus Ross, finds himself in the middle of an international incident. He must discover the reason behind a nefarious global plot before the true mastermind has the entire world seeing red.

The film is directed by Julius Onah and produced by Kevin Feige and Nate Moore from a script by Malcolm Spellman, Dalan Musson, and Matthew Orton. The film stars Anthony Mackie, Danny Ramirez, Shira Haas, Xosha Roquemore, Carl Lumbly, with Giancarlo Esposito, Liv Tyler, Tim Blake Nelson, and Harrison Ford.
