WandaVision will make us think about the MCU in “a whole brand new way” teases Paul Bettany

November 18, 2020 by Samuel Brace

Paul Bettany, one of the stars of WandaVision, has teased how the show will fit into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Marvel fans are having to be quite patient as they wait for the first MCU shows to land on Disney+. The good news is that WandaVision will be coming in January of next year.

The show looks rather strange, as one might expect from a series about Vision and the Scarlet Witch. But Vision actor Paul Bettany assures fans that the show will fit perfectly into the larger MCU.

Speaking to Collider, he said: “I think it’s going to make you think about the MCU in a whole brand new way but I do think that it’s absolutely a part of that universe. As each episode unfolds, the audience will be able to peel back layer upon layer until this rather beautiful puzzle box written by Jac Schaeffer and directed by Matt Shakman and shot by [cinematographer] Jess Hall will be revealed to everybody and it will make sense. All of the bonkers stuff will be about something.”

Hopefully the ambitious series – which uses traditional sit-com elements and typical MCU action – will work out perfectly and be a successful addition to the franchise. It’s not long until we find out.

Marvel Studios’ captivating new series WandaVision stars Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany and marks the first series from Marvel Studios streaming exclusively on Disney+. The series is a blend of classic television and the Marvel Cinematic Universe in which Wanda Maximoff and Vision—two super-powered beings living idealized suburban lives—begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems.

WandaVision is set to premiere January 15th, 2021, and features a cast that includes Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch), Paul Bettany (Vision), Kat Dennings (Darcy Lewis), Randall Park (Agent Jimmy Woo),  Teyonah Parris (Empire) as Monica Rambeau, and Kathryn Hahn (Bad Moms) as Agnes.
