War Thunder update 1.73 brings the French into the battle

October 12, 2017 by Andrew Newton

With British, German, US and other nation’s vehicles and planes roaring over the battle fields of War Thunder, the latest update for this MMO combat game will introduce the French as the game’s seventh nation.  Update 1.73 will include over 30 French aircraft from the late 30’s to modern jets plus many planes that didn’t make it off the drawing board due to WW2.

Budding French pilots will start their French tech tree in one of France’s first developmental aircraft, the Dewoitine D.371.  This was one of their first monoplanes which only saw service during the Spanish Civil War.  Upon release of the update there will be 3 variations of this plane available each of which having their own armaments, there will also be the premium D.371 H.S.9 with two 20mm cannons.

During the post war period French planes were designed to fulfill a number of roles and featured a variety of offensive and secondary armaments that saw these craft perform decently as both fighters and bombers.

“Some of the French planes included in Update 1.73 never entered mass production because of the demands of World War II, so information on them was difficult to source. We spent more than a year in development, searching for various references and painstakingly recreating these rare planes to make War Thunder’s French aviation. We are sure that the pilots of War Thunder will look forward to finally testing these machines in battle,” says Kirill Yudintsev, Creative Director of Gaijin Entertainment.

Update 1.73 for War Thunder will be arriving soon.  Vive La France!
