It feels inevitable that this might start happening at some stage, but Warner Bros. have announced that Operation Mincemeat, their upcoming World War II drama based on the best-selling book by Ben MacIntyre, will stand down from its January 2022 release date in the face of rising Covid cases.
Directed by John Madden (The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel) and featuring stars Colin Firth, Matthew Macfadyen, Kelly Macdonald, and Johnny Flynn, Operation Mincemeat will now skip its new year release and roll out sometime in April 2022.
According to Deadline the studio didn’t respond to a request for comment, but with the threat of tightening restrictions looming due to the new variant, Warner Bros. have been the first to pull one of their releases from the schedule.

As of now cinemas in the UK remain open, with October’s box-office receipts breaking records, but with the current climate sure to have an impact on attendance levels, Operation Mincemeat could be the first of many to shuffle around the calendar in the early part of 2022.

Operation Mincemeat will be released nationwide sometime in April 2022.
