Warner Bros. wants to make Shazam! 2 “as soon as possible” according to Zachary Levi

July 17, 2019 by Samuel Brace

Zachary Levi, the star of Shazam!, has revealed that Warner Bros. and the powers that be want to make Shazam! 2 “as soon as possible”.

Shazam! certainly defied a lot of expectations upon release, proving to be the kind of entertaining adventure that many DC fans are eager to go on. But when can we expect to see a sequel to the film?

Well, according to star Zachary Levi, the studios involved want it to happen rather quickly. Speaking at Germany’s CCXP Cologne convention (via ComicBook.com), the actor said:

“The truth is, I don’t really know anything. I know that I’m gonna have a conversation with my bosses pretty soon about what the idea is and where we’re going with the new movie, but all I really know is that New Line, our studio, and Warner Brothers, our parent studio, and DC, and our producers and executives and everybody who’s involved in all of the decision making, they’re all very happy with what we did. They want to do even better the second time around, and they are crafting a story right now as we speak about what that sequel is going to be.

“The only other thing I know is they want to make it as soon as possible because those kids are growing up like weeds, so if we don’t do that in like the next two days, they’re gonna be full grown adults.”

This will be music to the ears of Shazam! fans. Hopefully, everything will fall into place soon and production on a sequel can get underway.

Shazam sees Zachary Levi starring as the titular superhero, with Asher Angel as his young alter-ego Billy Batson, along with Jack Dylan Grazer as Freddy Freeman, Ian Chen as Eugene Choi, Jovan Armand as Pedro Peña, Grace Fulton as Mary Marvel, Cooper Andrews as Victor Vasquez, Faithe Herman as Darla Dudley, Mark Strong as Dr. Thaddeus Sivana, Djimon Hounsou as the Wizard, Adam Brody as Freddie Freeman, Ross Butler as Eugene Choi, D. J. Cotrona as Pedro Pena, Meagan Good as Darla Dudley, and Michelle Borth as Mary Bromfield.
