Westworld showrunners tell fans to expect “radical shift” in season 3

August 15, 2018 by Samuel Brace

Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, the showrunners on Wesworld, have promised a “radical shift” for season three.

With the climatic and surprising events of the season two finale of Westworld, it’s safe to assume things will be quite different once season three makes it way to our TV screens.

How different can fans expect season three to be? Well, according to Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, Westworld’s showrunners, the change-up will be significant. Nolan told THR: “I think it’s a radical shift. What’s compelling and appealing about these characters is that they’re not human. As we said in the show, humans are bound by the same loops the hosts are, in some ways even smaller. You couldn’t expect human characters to withstand and survive the kind of story that we’re telling. The hosts have a different version of mortality, a different outlook. I think clearly with Dolores, as she’s laid out, there is a longer view here, a larger set of goals. They’re existential. They span eons. And that’s a fascinating level of story to engage in.”

With Joy also adding that season three “really is like repiloting” it sounds like the next season of Westworld could be quite a ride. Are you looking forward to the changes alluded to? Or would you prefer more of the same when season three comes around?
