Wonder Woman: The Complete Collection coming to Blu-ray this month

July 19, 2020 by Ricky Church

While fans of DC’s Wonder Woman have to wait a while longer for Wonder Woman 1984 to hit theatres, they can get their kick of the Amazonian Warrior with Wonder Woman: The Complete Collection, a blu-ray boxset of the classic series starring Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman.

The set will be released on July 28 for $65 in the United States and $70 in Canada. It will contain all 59 episodes of the series as well as the TV movie pilot The New Original Wonder Woman, which premiered two years before the series.

Bonus features include:

  • Audio commentary of the pilot movie by Lynda Carter & executive producer Douglas S. Cramer
  • Audio commentary by Lynda Carter on episode, “My Teenage Idol is Missing”
  • Featurette – Beauty, Brawn and Bulletproof Bracelets: A Wonder Woman Retrospective
  • Featurette – Revolutionizing a Classic: From Comic Book to Television
  • Featurette – Wonder Woman: The Ultimate Feminist Icon

Wonder Woman ran for three seasons, first premiering on ABC in 1977. After the first season concluded, it moved to CBS and ended in 1979.  Much like Adam West and Christopher Reeve with their respective Batman and Superman roles, Carter is thought of to have defined the character in that age and has been a fan-favourite in the role.

She has appeared in other DC-related media such as Smallville and a recurring role in The CW’s Supergirl. She has also been very outspoken in her support for Gal Gadot and director Patty Jenkins in their Wonder Woman films, and though they didn’t manage to cameo in the first Wonder Woman, Carter has teased she held discussions with Jenkins about a role in Wonder Woman 1984.

Save the world? That’s a man’s job. Then along comes star-spangled Wonder Woman with her bullet-deflecting bracelets and golden lariat to set everyone straight. With Lynda Carter staring as the title character, Season One features adventures in Wonder Woman’s original World War II era, while Seasons Two and Three whoosh forward to the disco-loving ‘70s.  Times change, the need to smash evil, calamity and injustice does not.
