X-Men: Dark Phoenix actor Evan Peters says the film is about the “X-Men family”

June 6, 2018 by Samuel Brace

Evan Peters, one of the stars of X-Men: Dark Phoenix, has said that the new film is more “serious” than past entries and is about the “X-Men family”.

The X-Men franchise might be one of the most complicated and hard to follow superhero series in history. With its multiple timelines, origin movies, and future set solo films, it’s quite a lot for the casual moviegoer to comprehend.

At the end of the day, however, these films are meant to be fun superhero romps and can mostly be enjoyed as such but this is where the next entry, Dark Phoenix, is going to differ from films like Apocalypse.

According to Quicksilver actor Evan Peters, fans can expect a difference in tone once they sit down for the latest entry in the franchise, telling Den of Geek: “I think the title kind of says it all: it’s a little bit darker and it’s a little bit more of a drama. It’s really about Phoenix and Jean’s inner-struggle and how that pans out, and who your real friends are. Who’s helping you through these difficult times? So it’s really about that and it’s about the X-Men family, and I think it’s a serious film.”

Does Peters’ description of the movie get you more excited about Dark Phoenix or would you prefer the tone was more along the lines of X-Men: Apocalypse?

X-Men: Dark Phoenix is set for release on February 14th 2019 and sees Simon Kinberg directing a cast that includes franchise veterans Michael Fassbender (Magneto), James McAvoy (Professor X), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Alexandra Shipp (Storm), Sophie Turner (Jean Grey), Tye Sheridan (Cyclops), Kodi Smit-McPhee (Nightcrawler) and Evan Peters (Quicksilver) alongside new additions Jessica Chastain (Molly’s Game) and Lamar Johnson (Kings).
