X-Men: Days of Future Past has enjoyed a healthy $261 million opening around the globe this weekend, with the Bryan Singer-directed sequel pulling in $90.7 million domestically and $171 million internationally since it began rolling out last Thursday. Its three-day U.S. haul is the second largest for the franchise after 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand, and is the fourth biggest of the year behind Captain America: The Winter Soldier ($95 million), Godzilla ($93.2 million) and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 ($91.6 million). However, globally it has eclipsed all of those films, with Fox rolling X-Men: Days of Future Past out in 100 markets and enjoying its biggest ever worldwide debut ahead of Avatar’s $241.6 million.
X-Men: Days of Future Past is out now sees X-Men veterans Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), James McAvoy (Professor X), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), Lucas Till (Havok), Halle Berry (Storm), Anna Paquin (Rogue), Ellen Page (Kitty Pryde), Shawn Ashmore (Iceman) and Daniel Cudmore (Colossus) joined in the cast by franchise newcomers Evan Peters (American Horror Story) as Quicksilver, Booboo Stewart (The Twilight Saga: Eclipse) as Warpath, Omar Sy (The Intouchables) as Bishop, Fan Bingbing (Iron Man 3) as Blink, Adan Canto (The Following) as Sunspot, Evan Jonigkeit (The Following) as Toad, Josh Helman (Mad Max: Fury Road) as William Stryker and Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones) as Bolivar Trask.
