Xbox Games with Gold for May 2018 announced

April 22, 2018 by Andrew Newton

May’s Xbox Games with Gold has been announced earlier than normal, I have to say I missed it initially as I am so used to it being revealed towards the end of the month.  That said, May will bring four different titles on both Xbox 360 and Xbox One and an opportunity to gain over 3k of gamerpoints.

Older Xbox 360/ Xbox One gamers with Gold membership will be able to take a stroll down memory lane from 1st to 15th May with Sega Vintage Collection: Streets of Rage.  This collection consists of Streets of Rage 1, 2 and 3 and these are three of the ultimate sideways scrolling beat ’em ups you could possibly ever want to play  (in my opinion Streets of Rage is second only to the 8bit classic Target Renegade).  If you don’t remember Streets of Rage when it first came out then give it a try and discover what real challenges were back in the day.

For the latter half of May gamers are treated to Platinum games’ fast paced third person shooter, Vanquish.  Players will take on the role of DARPA Agent Sam Gideon and don his new Augmented Reaction Suit to take on a rogue Russian military force intent on bringing the USA to its knees.

Xbox One Gold members Will have access to Metalhead’s follow up to Super Mega Baseball for the whole of May.  Super Mega Baseball 2 has redesigned characters (no longer cartoon-like) and a polished “mojo” buff and debuff system.  Plus, unlike its predecessor, it has multiplayer.

Finally, from 16th May to 15th June there will be Hideo Kojima’s Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.  Players will follow Snake as he sneaks his way through an open world avoiding or killing enemy soldiers as he hunts for those responsible for the destruction of the Militaires Sans Frontières.

Leave a comment and tell us what you think to Games with Gold for May, or even what you think of the free games we’ve had so far this year…
