Xbox Games with Gold for May 2022 revealed

April 30, 2022 by Andrew Newton

It’s almost time to say goodbye to April and welcome in the month of May and all that it entails, including May Day bank holiday and four new Games with Gold.  This May will bring Yoku’s Island Express and The Inner World: The Last Wind Monk and through backwards compatibility, the Xbox 360 games Hydro Thunder Hurricane and Viva Pinata Party Animals.

May will kick off the fun with the pinball platformer Yoku’s Island Express.  Take the role of Yoku as he hopes to soak in the sun as he delivers parcels on the tropical island of Mokumana.  Unfortunately for Yoku, there’s no time to relax as an ancient Island deity is trapped in a restless sleep and it’s down to him to travel around the island helping the inhabitants in need.  Players will pinball flip and bump Yoku around a hand painted island that includes tropical beaches, lush jungles, snowy mountains and more.

Also from 1st May to 15th is the sequel to Midway’s legendary racer Hydro Thunder Hurricane.  Take high-powered speedboats through a variety of completely over-the-top environments, including Monster Island, the Bermuda Triangle and Area 51, filled with shortcuts, jumps and destructible objects.  There’s 20 different boats to unlock and power-ups to collect to give your speedboat a boost.

From the second half of May players will be able to download The Inner World: The Last Wind Monk.  This humorous and thoughtful adventure follows Robert, the heir to the flute nose throne, as he sets out on a quest to find the legendary last wind monk.  Accompanied by his companions, Peck and Laura, Robert will travel through a charming world filled with strange locations like the topsy-turvy airport “Asposia Central” and the mysterious Shovel Mountains.

To finish off the fun in May gamers can enjoy the delights of Viva Piñata: Party Animals.  Based on elements from the Viva Piñata television series, players will compete against three other characters (either AI or other players) through a number of mini-games and earn candy rewards determined by which position they finished in.

Viva Piñata: Party Animals is not a game for the more hardcore gamers, instead being a fun little title for younger players to enjoy.  The mini-games are relatively simple, the characters are adorable and the visuals and audio are ideal for keeping little Jimmy occupied for a bit.
