Yellowjackets to end with season 4

October 11, 2025 by Ricky Church

Showtime’s hit survival/supernatural thriller series Yellowjackets is coming to an end. The series, which stars Melanie Lynskey, Christina Ricci, Tawny Cypress, Sophie Thatcher and more, will conclude with its fourth season next year.

Yellowjackets tells “the saga of a team of talented high school girls soccer players who become the (un)lucky survivors of a plane crash deep in the remote northern wilderness. Equal parts survival epic, psychological horror story and coming-of-age drama, the series chronicles their descent from a complicated but thriving team to savage clans, while also tracking the lives they’ve attempted to piece back together nearly 25 years later, proving that the past is never really past and what began out in the wilderness is far from over.”

The series has followed the 19 months the Yellowjackets team were stranded in the woods while jumping forward to their current lives. The third season ended with the flashback timeline offering a glimmer of hope for the survivors to be rescued even as many of them descend further into their ritualistic cannibalism while the present timeline saw some survivors die as others reconnect with their dark urges.

“After three incredible seasons, and great consideration, we’re excited to announce that we will be bringing the story of Yellowjackets to its twisted conclusion in this fourth and final season,” said creators and showrunners Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson. “We’ve always known there would come a point when the story would tell us it wants to end, and it’s our belief that our job — our responsibility — is to listen. Telling this emotional, wild, and deeply human story has been a profoundly meaningful experience and a true honor for us, and we’re so very grateful to the brilliant cast, crew and writers who have bravely gone on the journey with us to bring it to life. Most of all, we want to thank the fans who have stuck with us through every moment, mystery and meal — the Hive is nothing without you! We can’t wait to share the final chapter with you and hope you find it…delicious.”

The fourth season is currently being written and will begin production early next year with a late 2026 premiere on Paramount+ targeted. Since its premiere in 2021, Yellowjackets has been a huge success for Showtime earning award nominations for several categories and its ensemble cast always praised by fans and critics.

Yellowjackets stars Melanie Lynskey, Christina Ricci, Tawny Cypress, Juliette Lewis, Sophie Thatcher, Sophie Nélisse, Ella Purnell, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Samantha Hanratty, Warren Kole, Courtney Eaton, Lauren Ambrose, Simone Kessel, Liv Hewson, Elijah Wood, Kevin Alves, Sarah Desjardins, Alexa Barajas and Steven Krueger.

Yellowjackets season four will premiere in 2026.
