Zach Galligan is still hoping for Gremlins 3

February 12, 2024 by EJ Moreno

Zach Galligan knows fans want more Gremlins, and he’s open to returning. While speaking with Screen Rant at the Saturn Awards, Galligan talked about the state of a potential Gremlins 3 and how he wants to avoid the reboot path.

The actor tells the outlet: “I do. I can’t really figure out why Warner Bros. would do two seasons – not one, but two seasons – of the animated series and spend a lot of money on it unless there was some kind of endgame. And usually the endgame for a huge studio like Warner Bros. Discovery is a live-action film. A live-action film is always where you’re going to make the most money. Super Mario Bros. just proved that!”

“The endgame probably will be, I’m hoping, a third film,” he added. “I don’t think it’ll be a reboot, though, because Chris Columbus has nixed that idea. He owns part of the rights.”

Gremlins was a 1984 cult classic that became a Christmas staple for many viewers. It featured a leading cast of Zach Galligan, Phoebe Cates, Hoyt Axton, John Louie, and Keye Luke. Galligan and Cates would return for the sequel a few years later.

The first season of Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai is available to stream on Max.
