Zack Snyder responds to outpouring of support over his decision to depart Justice League

May 24, 2017 by Jordan Jones

A couple of days ago director Zack Snyder announced that he would be leaving his directorial duties of the upcoming DCEU movie Justice League, and that Joss Whedon would be coming aboard to finish the film.

Snyder revealed that his daughter Autumn Snyder tragically committed suicide back in March, and while he was initially going to keep working on the movie as a form of healing, he ultimately decided to step down to mourn, and be with his family. This shocking news was met with a huge amount of support from the studio, cast, and his fanbase. In response to the outpouring of support, the director sent out this Tweet:

Thanks for the outpouring of support. I can't express how much it means to Debbie & I and Autumn’s mother, Denise, at such a difficult time.

— Zack Snyder (@ZackSnyder) May 23, 2017

Zack has also provided some information on suicide prevention to his fans in the wake of this tragedy:

To support or seek help, please know there are places such as https://t.co/LUw6woJElo and https://t.co/OW50Kobpzz that are doing great work.

The comic book fan base can often be a divided one, and it’s really great to see the community join together to wish Zack Snyder well wishes during this very difficult time for him and his family.

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League will reunite Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice stars Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jason Mamoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta alongside J.K. Simmons (Whiplash) as Commissioner Gordon, Amber Heard (The Danish Girl) as Mera, Willem Dafoe (Spider-Man) as Vulko, Kiersey Clemons (Dope) as Iris West, Ciaran Hinds (Game of Thrones) as Steppenwolf, and Julian Lewis Jones (Stella) and Michael McElhatton (Game of Thrones) in as-yet-unrevealed roles.
