Zack Synder talks shooting Batman v Superman in Detroit, confirms Aquaman appearance

October 28, 2014 by Thomas Roach

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has been filming in Detroit for the past few months and is about to wrap there before heading to Chicago for the final part of the shoot. In an interview with CBS Detroit Radio, director Zack Synder has revealed how happy he was to have shot scenes in the city…

“I just wanted to say thanks to you guys for being strong supporters of the movie and coming down and saying hey, and just, I’ve had a great time in Michigan, I just wanted to say thanks to you guys and just to Detroit itself. I know this is the venue for talking to all of Detroit. We head to Chicago after this, then a couple more locations, but we’re getting close [to wrapping completely]”‘

He also stated that there is a chance that the future Justice League movies will return to Detroit: “I feel like there’s a pretty good chance we’ll be back. We have a couple of established locations here that I think if we make another movie we would have to come back and shoot that.’

Zack Synder also brought up Aquaman, which was something he discussed with the Radio station a few months ago when they were bashing the character: “I think the last time I called, we talked a little bit about Aquaman, but it hadn’t been announced that Jason Momoa was gonna play Aquaman. I was trying to protect you guys from his wrath. The man is a monster. The guy is awesome and he’s so passionate. I was hanging out with him here in Detroit and he was loving on it so hard. He’s a great guy, but like I say not a small individual.”

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters on March 25th, 2016 with Zack Snyder directing a cast that includes returning Man of Steel stars Henry Cavill (Superman), Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Diane Lane (Martha Kent), Laurence Fishburne (Perry White) and Harry Lennix (General Swanwick) alongside Ben Affleck (Argo) as Batman, Gal Gadot (Fast & Furious 6) as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones) as Aquaman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jesse Eisenberg (Now You See Me) as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons (The Borgias) as Alfred Pennyworth and Jena Malone (Sucker Punch), Holly Hunter (The Piano), Callan Mulvey (300: Rise of an Empire), Tao Okamoto (The Wolverine) and Scoot McNairy (Argo) in as-yet-unrevealed roles.
