Zombieland 2 is back on track with Ruben Fleischer directing

October 1, 2014 by James Garcia

Zombieland fans rejoice, because Sony Pictures is looking to put the ill-fated and terrible Amazon sequel series behind them and finally move forward with an actual sequel to the hit 2009 film. Not only that, but they’ve brought back original film director Ruben Fleischer to helm the new installment, and have brought on Godzilla and The Expendables writer Dave Callaham to write the script.

According to Deadline, it’s unclear if any of the original stars will return, as they’ve all become extremely big stars in the last five years. Jesse Eisenberg is of course working on Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice as Lex Luthor, Woody Harrelson is hot on the heels of an Emmy nomination for True Detective and has projects like The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 and Now You See Me 2 (which Eisenberg will also be in) on his slate. Emma Stone may have just wrapped her storyline in the Amazing Spider-Man franchise, but she’s got untitled films from both Woody Allen and Cameron Crowe in her pipeline as well as Dreamworks’ The Croods 2. Then there’s Abigail Breslin, who has had a steady stream of work and has starred in fourteen films since her zombie-hunting days.

Hell, I would trade them all for a zombie Bill Murray. Can we make that happen?

We’ll keep you posted as more news of Zombieland 2 come shuffling in. In the meantime, let us know your thoughts about the possibility of this follow-up finally happening in the comments below.
