5 Reasons to be Excited for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Luke Owen gives a few reasons to be excited for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles…

teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-01We’re only a couple of months away from the release of the Michael Bay produced and Jonathan Liebsman directed reboot to classic comic book series Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Since the movie’s announcement, it’s been met with mostly negativity from the Internet Community, who feel that the director of the Transformers franchise is going to ruin another piece of 80s nostalgia.

The first trailer came out and it silenced a few critics. Then on Tuesday, a second trailer was released and it silenced even more critics. It doesn’t look as bad as many had feared. The action looks solid, the comedy is light and it doesn’t feel like the giant train wreck some were expecting.

However, there are still those who feel like this is going to be a giant waste of time. A good 80% of our writing staff felt this way in the Flickering Myth Reaction and the tweets about the trailer are also showing that a large portion of the cinema audience (and TMNT fans) are not happy with this new film.

But come on guys – it’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! Let’s get excited!

So, to try and put some minds at ease, let’s look at 5 reasons to get excited about the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Around the Internet…

    5. It can’t be as bad as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III

Have you seen an M Bay movie? It can and it will …

    • Dalinkwent

Nah, you need to revisit part 3. While I’m skeptical about Bay’s vision, part 3 was horrible. I bought a Turtles movie box set that includes all 4 movies and I tried to sit through part 3 and got 20 minutes in and said “nope, done”. Nothing in that movie works. From the costumes, jokes, action, story and characters. All drivel and dull.

So happy to see a little positivity!

  • The Walking Cuban

(Paraphrasing, saves time) Turtles 2 may have ended with “ninja, ninja, RAP!”, but turtles 3 has gone too far!

  • The Walking Cuban

I agree with this article. And I’m sorry guys, I really am…….. But it looks funnier than gotg. Rocket Raccoon and Peter Quill, well, I just hope they’re funnier than what the trailers indicate.

That said, I want to watch both movies. TMNT comes out in the 2nd weekend of gotg. It WILL steal their thunder. And I say this as a marvel fan. But I was a ninja turtles fan first.

  • Manuel Granados

I don’t like how the Turtles look but unless it gets awful reviews I will most likely watch it.

  • Dalinkwent

Yea that first script was awful. Pure and utter sh*t. It wasn’t even the changes, but the fact that they were vast and mostly pointless. Case in point, making Raph the comic relief instead of Mikey, the Turtles not even fighting with their weapons or as a team until the climax, April basically being the hero that saves the Turtles at the end while also being the main character with the Turtles being side characters (sadly that might be a similar case in the finished film) and so many other problems that go on and on.

  • Seth

I was a 9 year old, waiting in line, back in 91. There was a full page ad for it in the back of a comic book. I stared at this simple ad every day til the movie came out. Good or bad, I will be in line for this one.

The CGI makes them looks like mutated black dudes.
