Justice League to be one movie, official logo, synopsis, plot and character details revealed

June 21, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Warner Bros. has peeled back the curtain on next year’s Justice League movie, opening up the set of the Zack Snyder-directed films to a number of websites, as well as releasing the official logo and synopsis for the movie, along with an image of the Batmobile:

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Speaking to Empire, producer Deborah Snyder has revealed that Justice League will be a single movie, rather than the previously announced Part One and Part Two: “We were only ever planning, and we are only doing, Justice League.” However, Zack Snyder later said that they still have a date for a second Justice League, which will presumably be a sequel, rather than the second-half of a two-part story.

In other news coming out of the set reports, it has been confirmed that the villain will be Steppenwolf (confirming the scoop from Birth.Movies.Death, and debunking the one from Heroic Hollywood), while B.M.D.’s rumour that Willem Dafoe is playing an Atlantean also proved to be on the money, with his role confirmed as Vulko, who in the comic books is an advisor to Aquaman.

Joblo also summarised a few more details, stating that the plot will focus on the search for three Mother Boxes (on Earth, Atlantis and Themyscira), and that much of the narrative will focus on Batman assembling the Justice League, with Superman making his return later in the film. Parademons will feature, and Darkseid’s influence will be felt, while Lex Luthor may also have a role.

Justice League will reunite Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice stars Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jason Mamoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth and Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor alongside J.K. Simmons (Whiplash) as Commissioner Gordon, Amber Heard (The Danish Girl) as Mera and Willem Dafoe (Spider-Man) as Vulko. It is set for release on November 17th 2017.
