Last year it was revealed that Jamie Foxx is set to play Mike Tyson in an upcoming biopic of the former heavyweight boxing champ, and now Foxx has revealed on New York’s Power 105’s Breakfast Show that Martin Scorsese has been tapped to direct the film at Paramount Pictures.
“I just went in to Paramount with Mike Tyson,” states Foxx. “So I’m going to do the Mike Tyson story. Listen, to be in the same room pitching Mike Tyson to Paramount, Mike Tyson is on one side, I’m on the other side and doing Mike Tyson at the same time. And Martin Scorsese at the helm. This will be the first boxing movie that Martin Scorsese has done since Raging Bull.”
The Tyson biopic has been penned by Terence Winter (Boardwalk Empire, The Wolf of Wall Street), and is expected to cover all stages of Iron Mike’s controversial career.
