Abbie Cornish and Caleb Landry Jones join Martin McDonagh’s Three Billboards

March 16, 2016 by Scott J. Davis

Deadline is reporting that Abbie Cornish (Sucker Punch) and Caleb Landry Jones (X-Men: First Class) have joined the cast of Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, the new film from acclaimed director Martin McDonagh.

McDonagh, who wrote and directed Seven Psychopaths and In Bruges, has already signed Psychopaths stars Woody Harrelson and Sam Rockwell to star in the film alongside Frances McDormand (Hail, Caesar!). Film4 and Fox Searchlight are co-financing the film.

According to the site, the film synopsis is as follows: “Furious that the local police have not caught her daughter’s killer, Mildred Hayes (McDormand) buys three billboards which she uses to goad the cops into action. Mildred reserves her greatest scorn for Sheriff Bill Willoughby (Harrelson). Willoughby’s hot-headed protégé, Officer Jason Dixon (Rockwell), identifies who he thinks is the killer and teams up with Mildred to wreak vigilante justice since he is certain that the guy killed someone.”

Landry Jones, who is also part of David Lynch’s new Twin Peaks series, joins the film as a “low-rent advertising salesman who allows Mildred to rent the three controversial billboards”, while Cornish will play Harrelson’s wife Anne.

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri is set for a 2017 release.
