J.J. Abrams-produced God Particle reportedly new Cloverfield movie, shared universe planned

October 27, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Earlier this year Paramount and J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions dropped a major surprise when it was announced that Dan Trachtenberg’s Valencia was actually called 10 Cloverfield Lane, and now it seems we may have another Cloverfield movie in the pipeline.

According to The Wrap, director Julis Onah (The Girl Is in Trouble) upcoming sci-fi God Particle is reportedly the next movie “connected to” the 2008 found footage film, and Paramount and Abrams are “quietly developing more movies for the shared universe” with hopes to release one each year.

God Particle features a cast that includes David Oyelowo (Selma), Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Concussion), John Krasinski (13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi), Elizabeth Debicki (The Night Manager), Daniel Bruhl (Captain America: Civil War), Chris O’Dowd (Bridesmaids) and Zhang Ziyi (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon).

Although plot details are being kept under wraps, it’s been previously said that the film follows the crew of “a space station who find themselves alone after a scientific experiment causes Earth to disappear. When a space shuttle appears, the space station crew must determine if those aboard are friend or foe.”

God Particle is slated for release on February 24th 2017.
