Edward James Olmos joins Sons of Anarchy spinoff Mayans MC

February 14, 2017 by Samuel Brace

Once FX’s flagship product during its seven season run, Sons of Anarchy is getting the spinoff treatment and has just brought actor Edward James Olmos on board.

A ratings success, as well as the show that launched the career of Charlie Hunnam, the biker gang adult drama was long a fan favourite.

The show ended back in 2014 but creator Kurt Sutter will be bringing us back to the world with a spin off named Mayans MC, set years after Jax’s 2014 death.

Mayans MC will focus on the inner working of the Mayans MC charter that made numerous appearances during the original shows run. The new show’s main focus will be character EZ Reyes and Olmos will be playing Reyes’ father.

Deadline describe the character as “the once strong Mexican patriarch, crushed by bullets and hard labor, who struggles to keep his past buried and lead his sons down a lawful, righteous path”.
