Scarlett Johansson has been talking to Joss Whedon about a Black Widow movie

February 28, 2017 by Robert Kojder

It’s safe to say that many fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are clamoring for Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow to receive her own solo superhero movie.

Recently, the actress mentioned that it is only a matter of timing, and now, courtesy of MTV, we have another update from the red carpet of the Academy Awards, where Johansson stated that: “I’m still trying to wrap my head around Infinity War which is like…the production is an infinity. And then I’ll let you know afterwards.”

JOhansson also went on to reveal that she’s discussed the project with The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron director Joss Whedon (who has previously indicated that he could be tempted back to the MCU for a Black Widow movie,), adding that “We talk about it all the time. We text each other back and forth.”

For those craving some female empowerment, DC does have Wonder Woman releasing this year, while Marvel will unleash Captain Marvel in 2019. As for Black Widow, the waiting continues.

Avengers: Infinity War started shooting a few weeks ago under Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War directors Anthony and Joe Russo. It is set for release on May 2nd 2018, followed by the as-yet-untitled Avengers 4 on May 3rd 2019.
