October 29, 2017 by Gary Collinson

On Friday night it was announced that Warner Bros., New Line Cinema and DC Entertainment have found their Captain Marvel for the Shazam movie in Chuck and Thor: Ragnarok star Zachary Levi, and following the news Levi took to social media to share a rather nice piece of fan art of him in character courtesy of Boss Logic, as well as commenting on his casting.

“Honored and greatly humbled to be a part of the DC Universe by bringing the original Captain Marvel to life,” said Levi. “I am beside myself with gratitude, not only for this opportunity, but also the incredible outpouring of love and support from so many of you out there in the world. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ll be in the gym for the rest of forever.”

Shazam is being directed by David F. Sandberg (Annabelle: Creation) and is set to go into production in February ahead of its April 2019 release. Expect more news very soon.
