20 films in contention for the Best Visual Effects Oscar at the 90th Academy Awards

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences have announced the twenty films which remain in content for the Best Visual Effects Oscar at the 90th Academy Awards. Check out the longlist here…

  • Ojka
  • Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales
  • The Shape of Water

  • Thor: Ragnarok
  • Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets
  • War for the Planet of the Apes
  • Wonder Woman

From the above, the Visual Effects Branch Executive Committee of The Academy will select 10 films to advance to the nomination voting stage, with the actual nominations set to be announced on January 23rd 2018. The 90th Academy Awards will take place on March 4th 2018.
