Jordan Peele reportedly in talks for Candyman remake

September 10, 2018 by EJ Moreno

According to horror site Bloody Disgusting, Get Out director Jordan Peele plans on tackling the world of Candyman.

In their report, they say Peele is in talks to produce the remake through Monkeypaw Productions, his production company. There is no word on if he will direct the piece, but that doesn’t seem impossible.

Candyman is an urban horror film adapted from Clive Barker‘s “Books of Blood” short story “The Forbidden.” Bernard Rose directed Tony Todd and Virginia Madsen in this terrifying look at 90’s housing projects and the urban legend of Candyman that haunts the area. In the film, he is summoned by saying his name five times while facing a mirror.

Peele is an Oscar winner, capturing the Best Original Screenplay award for Get Out screenplay along with a nomination for Best Director. He’s currently filming Us, another social horror, starring Lupita Nyong’o, Winston Duke, and Elisabeth Moss. Monkeypaw Productions is behind a remake of The Twilight Zone, Amazon’s The Hunt, and Lovecraft Country.
