Mark Ruffalo on the conflict between the Hulk and Bruce Banner going into Avengers 4

September 10, 2018 by Amie Cranswick

As we saw in Avengers: Infinity War, Bruce Banner and his alter-ego The Hulk aren’t exactly on speaking terms at present, with the Green Goliath refusing to come to Banner’s aid as Earth’s Mightiest Heroes fought in vain to stop Thanos from acquiring the Infinity Stones and wiping out half of all life in the universe.

It’s been said previously that The Hulk would receive a three-movie arc throughout Thor: Ragnarok, Infinity War and the upcoming Avengers 4, meaning we can presumably expect a resolution of some kind in next year’s Avengers sequel. And, speaking on The Marvelist podcast, actor Mark Ruffalo has been chatting about where he’d like to see the story go next.

“I want to see this conflict carried out and see where that takes us and see, can they come to terms with it? Do they get a moment? I always thought it would be great to see them in some sort of subspace where they get to battle it out with Banner’s brains as some sort of his own superpower, like psych weaponry or psi weaponry against Hulk’s brute strength and have these two characters battle it out. I always thought that would be the ultimate comic book ending or something, opening to these characters.”

Where do you want to see the Hulk and Bruce Banner story arc going in Avengers 4? Can you see them settling their differences? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…
