Zombieland director has started pre-production on the sequel

September 16, 2018 by Gary Collinson

We’re just a few weeks out from the release of Venom, the latest film from Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer, following which the filmmaker will jump straight into the long-awaited sequel to the 2009 horror-comedy – and indeed, he’s already managed to find the time to begin early pre-production.

“We’re already actually starting Zombieland,” said Fleischer in an interview with Fandango. I’ve been scouting and storyboarding and getting it going, and to get to work with that cast again is just an absolute dream come true. It’s been really exciting starting to think about that movie, and to get to work with Emma, Jesse, Woody and Abigail once again is truly a dream come true. Yeah, we’re just at the very early stages, but we have an amazing script, and we’re going to start shooting in Georgia in January.”

As with the original movie, Zombieland 2 is written by Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, and will reunite stars Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson and Abigail Breslin. It is set for release on October 11th 2019 – almost ten years to the day (well, month) that Zombieland first hit theaters.
