Charlie Cox hopes his Daredevil can return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in some capacity

January 24, 2019 by Samuel Brace

Charlie Cox, the former star of Daredevil, says that he would love to play the character again in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The news that Netflix has cancelled Daredevil has saddened many, including the show’s cast and crew. It’s star Charlie Cox is no different and he has made it clear that he would love to return to the role.

In a recent interview with The Playlist, Cox said: “Oh, yeah. I loved it, man. I would love to get to continue playing that character.”

Cox is also a big fan of the idea that Daredevil could potentially team up with Spider-Man in the MCU: “In the comic books, there are some fantastic Spider-Man/Daredevil storylines. The bottom line is I just absolutely love the show. I love playing the character. It’s still a bit weird to me that I’m not playing the character anymore. It’s kind of impossible for me to really imagine that [a Spider-Man/Daredevil team-up] because it’s been such a long period of my life.

“It’s such a dream job for me, it’s been such a wonderful experience, that any scenario where I get to continue playing the character, whether it be on a different series, or whether it be in the movies, would be fantastic. I can only hope. It’s almost like I can’t think about it because I don’t wanna get my hopes up.”

While a Spidey/Daredevil team-up seems quite unlikely, Marvel has promised “more adventures with the Man without Fear in the future”, so fans of the show can hope that something might come together, allowing us to see Cox as Matt Murdock once again.

Missing for months, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) reemerges a broken man, putting into question his future as both vigilante Daredevil and lawyer Matthew Murdock. But when his archenemy Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) is released from prison, Matt must choose between hiding from the world or embracing his destiny as a hero.

Season three of Daredevil sees Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock/Daredevil), Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page), Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson) and Vincent D’Onofrio (Wilson Fisk/The Kingpin) all returning to the cast alongside new additions Joanne Whalley (Wolf Hall) as Sister Maggie and Wilson Bethel (Hart of Dixie) as Bullseye.
