More Back to the Future movies “can’t be done” says Robert Zemeckis

January 2, 2019 by Samuel Brace

Robert Zemeckis, the director of the Back to the Future films, says further sequels “can’t be done”.

There is no question that the Back to the Future franchise holds a fond place in the hearts of many movie fans around the world but could we ever see another entry in the series?

Well, according to director Robert Zemeckis, this isn’t going to happen. Speaking to Yahoo! in an interview to promote his new film Welcome to Marwen, the director commented on a recent poll that showed fans would love to see more Back to the Future:

“But I think what the poll is saying… they asked a specific question, so I guess they felt it was important to spend money to poll the world and ask this question, but don’t you think we could all have just given them the same answer? It confirms what we all know, but what I think the fans are really saying is that we really like this movie and if it were possible I’d like more of it. But they understand that it can’t be done.”

While any further films in the franchise seem unlikely at this point, is there a way you would like to see Back to the Future come back? Or would you prefer the series is left well alone? Let us know in the comments below…
