Avengers: Endgame producer says it was always Marvel’s goal to make the biggest movie of all time

August 6, 2019 by Samuel Brace

Trinh Tran, an executive producer on Avengers: Endgame, says that it was always Marvel’s ambition and goal to make the biggest movie in the world.

Looking at the Marvel Cinematic Universe now, the trajectory all makes sense, but back in the early years of the MCU, was the studio really thinking that one day they could make a movie like Endgame, which dethroned Avatar last month to become the highest-grossing film of all time?

Well, according to executive producer Trinh Tran, the answer is yes. ComicBook.com asked her if the goal was always to make the biggest movie in the world: “I think it’s always been in Kevin Feige’s mind that one day we would all get a chance to be able to make Infinity War and Endgame. And that was just a dream over 10 years ago. He really hoped that one day that would happen. I can’t remember specifically at what point we started talking about Infinity War and Endgame in detail, but it must’ve been in one of the movies when we were shooting with the Russos.

“We’re like, ‘Okay, we’re getting somewhere,’ you know? Like, ‘This is going to happen.’ But it’s always been in Kevin’s mind that we would start off with these characters and create their different franchises and their narrative separately and then have them ultimately come together with The Avengers. That was step one and we got through that first.”

It’s certainly an impressive accomplishment and now the question is, will they be able to continue the success with the next Phase of the MCU? It’s going to be fun to find out.

Avengers: Endgame stars Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Josh Brolin (Thanos), Brie Larson (Captain Marvel), Paul Rudd (Scott Lang), Don Cheadle (War Machine), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther), Tom Holland (Spider-Man), Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier), Anthony Mackie (Falcon), Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch), Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange), Danai Gurira (Okoye), Benedict Wong (Wong), Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax), Bradley Cooper (Rocket), Vin Diesel (Groot), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Gwyneth Paltrow (Pepper Potts), Evangeline Lilly (The Wasp), Letitia Wright (Shuri) and Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie).
