Chris Hemsworth teases Summer 2020 start date for Thor: Love and Thunder

November 25, 2019 by Ricky Church

Avengers: Endgame left a lot of the heroes audiences have come to know and love over the course of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in very different places, none more so than the God of Thunder himself, Thor, as played by Chris Hemsworth. At the Tokyo Comic Con, Hemsworth teased a little bit of information about the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder, Taika Waititi’s follow-up to the hugely successful Thor: Ragnarok.

“Lots of love and lots of thunder. You can expect that,” Hemsworth told a crowd during a panel. “I haven’t seen the script yet. I know they’re working very hard on it and pretty excited to bring you something pretty fresh and new again. But having left Endgame, where Thor was, we have a lot of room to move there and drastically change again, which is very, very exciting. But we start shooting that sort of mid-next year.”

The film’s production will take place in Australia. Thor: Love and Thunder will see Tessa Thompson return as Valkyrie while Waititi will reprise his role as Korg, but the biggest news that was revealed about the film at this year’s D-23 expo was the return of Natalie Portman as Jane Foster and how the story will take cues from Jason Aaron and Russell Dauterman’s Thor and The Mighty Thor, in which Jane became the new Thor after she was deemed worthy to wield Mjolnir.

Thor: Love and Thunder is set for release on November 5th, 2021.
