Taron Egerton and Scarlett Johansson wanted for Little Shop of Horrors remake

February 2, 2020 by Gary Collinson

According to a report over at Full Circle Cinema, offers are out to Taron Egerton (Rocketman) and Scarlett Johansson (Avengers: Endgame) to star in Warner Bros.’ long-planned big screen remake of Little Shop of Horrors.

Based upon the Alan Menken and Howard Ashman musical, which was itself adapted from Roger Corman’s low-budget 1960 feature The Little Shop of Horrors (and previously brought to the big screen in 1986), Little Shop of Horrors was first announced by Warner Bros. back in 2016, with Greg Berlanti (Love, Simon) attached to direct.

The musical tells the story of Seymour Krelborn, a florist who discovers a speaking – and singing – alien Venus flytrap, which he names Audrey II after the object of his affections, his co-worker Audrey. However, as it grows, Audrey II develops an insatiable appetite for human blood.

It’s previously been reported that Billy Porter (Pose) has been offered the voice role of Audrey II, but as yet there’s been no official confirmation on any castings.
